The birth of ecology was published in 2009. It shows that the ecology program of the Danish botanist Eugen Warming, published in the late nineteenth century, has profoundly affected the first generation of specialists in the USA and Europe.
It also shows that the history nourishes reflection on contemporary ecology, both perceived as a science and awareness.
